Go-Pod European Rally 2024

Join the Go-Pod group's very first European rally, where your main destination is at the picturesque Lake Annecy including stops in the beautiful Champagne-Ardenne and Rhône Alpes regions of France. Get to know your fellow Go-Podders with tours, excursions and social events.

This rally is led by experienced & knowledgeable Go-Pod owner Paul Johnson, who's racked up thousands of miles in his Go-Pod touring Europe in his role as an Alan Rogers Travel Guides Site Assessor.

You will start the rally at a campsite in the UK, close to the ferry port, this will be organised by the tour leader, *Paul Johnson. There is a Facebook group page which we will provide the details for once we have confirmed your place on the rally.

You will then board the ferry, travelling with Irish Ferries on a morning sailing on Monday 17 June. Once you arrive into Calais, you will then make your way to the first campsite, Camping d’Epernay for 1 night.

Next you will arrive at Camping du Lac, just 200 metres from Lac de Villegusien and one kilometre from the centre of Villegusien-le-Lac.

After your overnight stop at Camping du Lac, you will venture down to Camping International le Lac Bleu for 5 nights. This site is situated at the southern end of Lake Annecy with its own private beach, connected by a paved cycle/walking track that navigates the lake and goes directly into Annecy. There is also a bus service which runs from outside the site approximately every 30 minutes to Annecy, or there is a water bus.

For your final 4 nights within the Rhône Alpes, you will stay at the unique and relaxing site, La Grappe Fleurie. Located only 30 mins' drive from Macon and an hour from Lyon, this charming quality site is surrounded by the famous vineyards of Beaujolais. Here you will have a welcome drink upon arrival and two excursions. Please find the details below.

25 June – Day excursion

Visit to the Hameau Duboeuf, an incredible journey into the world of vines and wine. Hameau Duboeuf is the first vineyard and wine theme park in Europe, unique in its kind. Here you can enjoy an educational and immersive experience of the vineyard and wines, including a guided tour where you can learn about the history and a enjoy a delicious picnic lunch prepared by the campsite. Next, the group will enjoy some wine tasting in a magnificent room of Parisian cabaret style. From the beginning of the 20th century you will be offered a tasting of Beaujolais and Mâconnais wines from the selection of Georges Duboeuf Wines.

27 June – Day excursion

Walk through the vineyards and enjoy an Aperitif and Beaujolais meal in the restaurant nearby.

Lastly, you will make you way back to Camping d'Epernay for your final stop of the rally before your return ferry sailing on Saturday 29 June, afternoon sailing.

17 Jun - 18 Jun: Camping d’Epernay (1 nights)
Camping d Epernay

This very well maintained municipal site in the heart of the Champagne region is well worth a visit. Although situated between two sports stadia the site is a peaceful oasis on the banks of the River Marne. There are 109 level, grass pitches of which 68 have electricity (5-10A). These are bordered by well trimmed hedges of varying heights and numerous mature trees offering some shade. The whole site is arranged neatly and uniformly in rows.

18 Jun - 19 Jun: Camping du Lac (1 nights)

Camping du Lac de la Villegusien is in Haute-Marne just 200 metres from Lac de Villegusien and one kilometre from the centre of Villegusien-le-Lac. A small campsite with sufficient and spacious shady spot, each pitch has its own electricity.

19 Jun - 24 Jun: Camping le Lac Bleu (5 nights)
Camping le lac bleu

Camping Le Lac Bleu is set on the shore of Lake Annecy with beautiful views of the mountains, with its own private beach and jetty and on the cycle/footpath around the Lake. There are 220 pitches with electric hook-up points available, divided by privit and beech hedges.

24 Jun - 28 Jun: La Grappe Fleurie (4 nights)
La Grappe fleurie

With easy access from both the A6 autoroute and the N6, this attractive and welcoming site is perfect for overnight stops. But stay awhile and get to know this delightful region with its wine heritage, historical monuments and magical rolling landscape. This is a neat, well-ordered campsite situated in the heart of Beaujolais. In fact, it's surrounded by vineyards and just walking distance of the pretty village of Fleurie.
