Alan Rogers Rallies invites you to explore Albania, a captivating and largely undiscovered destination, offering a unique mix of history, culture, and stunning natural landscapes. This rally takes you on an adventurous journey through diverse regions, including Shkodër, Tiranë, and Loskovik, before concluding in the vibrant coastal city of Durrës. Along the way, you’ll experience ancient towns, lively markets, and stunning mountain scenery, immersing yourself in the authentic spirit of Albania.

The rally features carefully chosen stops, with campsites selected for their location. While a few may be simpler in their facilities, each contributes to an authentic travel experience, enriched by a warm, welcoming atmosphere and a strong sense of community. The itinerary also includes free days, allowing you to explore at your own pace, with the reassurance that friendly support and guidance are always close at hand.

While the itinerary is designed to be relaxed and enjoyable, this is a more authentic style of travel, and participants should be confident, experienced drivers who are comfortable navigating varied roads and terrain. Some rural roads offer breathtaking views but require caution.

22 Sept - 27 Sept: Camping Legjenda (5 nights)

Camping Legjenda
Shkodër, Albania

Camping Legjenda is one of the most iconic and atmospheric camping grounds in Northern Albania. Founded in 2004, it is named after the Albanian legend of Rozafa and offers a tranquil stay surrounded by art and nature. The grounds are adorned with mosaics and sculptures created by local artists, giving the place a creative, cultural ambiance.

Nestled at the foot of Rozafa Castle and a short walk to Lake Shkodër, Camping Legjenda offers grassy pitches for motorhomes and caravans in a peaceful, green setting. Guests benefit from modern facilities including electricity hook-ups, clean sanitary blocks, WiFi, and access to an on-site swimming pool and restaurant serving traditional Albanian cuisine. The campsite also offers bike hire for those wishing to cycle around the nearby lake. 

Located on the edge of the historic city of Shkodër, this site combines comfort with convenience, making it an ideal base from which to explore the city itself as well as the surrounding natural and cultural attractions.

Wednesday 23 September – Guided Tour of Shkodër

Discover the cultural heart of Northern Albania on a full-day guided tour of Shkodër. Begin at the legendary Rozafa Castle, perched high on a rocky hilltop where the Drin, Buna, and Kiri rivers meet, and take in sweeping views across the city and shimmering Lake Shkodër. Continue to the Historical Museum, where fascinating collections of archaeology, ethnography, and art bring centuries of history to life. The tour also includes a visit to the graceful Lead Mosque, a striking 18th-century Ottoman monument, before a stroll through the colourful old town with its lively streets, Italian-style architecture, and welcoming cafés. The day includes a traditional Albanian lunch at a local restaurant. 

Thursday 24 to Saturday 26 September – Free Time in Shkodër and the local area.

The next few days are designed for you to further discover the charming city of Shkodër and the local area at your own pace. Take a relaxing walk or cycle along the shores of Lake Shkodër. Just 5km along the river, you will find the village of Shiroka, known to be one of the 'most beautiful villages in the Balkans'.  Here you will be treated to postcard views of the timeless stone cottages, peaceful lakeside walks, and a real taste of Albanian culture.  

Art and culture enthusiasts may wish to visit the Marubi National Museum of Photography, home to one of the Balkans’ most important collections. Or a little further away, you will discover Mesi Bridge, one of Albania's most treasured cultural monuments.

Alternatively, simply slow down and unwind in one of the city’s many traditional restaurants or coffee bars, the ideal way to soak up the laid-back rhythm and warm atmosphere of this northern gem.

Camping Tirana in Kashar, is located in the peaceful countryside, west of Tiranë, offering a quiet, rural retreat within easy reach Albania's bustling capital. The campsite is small and basic and surrounded by rolling hills, olive groves, and vineyards. It is an ideal base for travellers seeking a nature escape with quick access to urban sights. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, with well-maintained facilities.

Guests can enjoy pitches with electricity and water connections, clean sanitary facilities, WiFi, and a small welcoming restaurant providing homemade Albanian specialties. A special highlight is the owners’ vineyard, where you can sample their homemade wine, adding a unique local touch to your stay. Its location combines the tranquillity of rural Albania with easy access to Tirana’s lively city centre, making it an ideal base for exploring.

Monday 28 September - Tiranë City Tour

Experience the vibrant heart of Albania’s capital on a guided walking tour that combines history, culture, and local flavour. The journey begins in Skanderbeg Square, the city’s grand central square surrounded by striking architecture, where you’ll hear the story of Albania’s national hero and his enduring legacy. 

From there, step into the fascinating underground world of Bunk’Art, a Cold War bunker now transformed into a museum that blends contemporary art with exhibitions on the communist era. Continue to the lively Pazari i Ri (New Bazaar), where colourful stalls overflow with fresh produce, local delicacies, and handicrafts, offering a glimpse into Tiranë’s everyday life. The tour includes a delicious lunch at Oda Garden or a similar traditional restaurant, where warm hospitality and authentic Albanian dishes provide the perfect taste of local culture.

29 Sept - 04 Oct: Farma Sotira (5 nights)

The next destination takes you into the mountains. Farma Sotira is a peaceful, eco-friendly farm and campground established in the early 2000s, nestled in the green mountains near Leskovik. Surrounded by pine forests and clear streams, this small campsite offers a unique opportunity to experience life on a working farm. With a focus on sustainable agriculture, the farm is home to a variety of livestock and crops, providing a genuine farm-to-table experience for its guests.

During your stay, you can immerse yourself in the rhythms of rural life, enjoy traditional Albanian food, savour fresh home-grown produce, and experience the warmth of local hospitality. Designed to be both authentic and comfortable, Farma Sotira offers a relaxing base from which to enjoy the charm of the unspoiled scenery and the richness of Albania’s rural traditions.

On your first evening, you can enjoy a welcome dinner with homegrown farm-to-table products.

Wednesday 30 September - Korçë Day Tour

Spend the day discovering the cultural treasures of Korçë, a charming city often referred to as the “Little Paris of Albania.” Your visit begins at the National Museum of Medieval Art, home to an extraordinary collection of Byzantine icons, frescoes, and liturgical objects that highlight the region’s rich artistic and religious heritage. Continue to the impressive Orthodox Cathedral of the Resurrection, one of the largest cathedrals in the Balkans, with its stunning architecture and peaceful interior. 

You’ll also have time to explore the lively Bazaar of Korçë, a beautifully restored quarter filled with cobbled streets, local shops, and traditional cafés, the perfect place to soak up the atmosphere of the city. The day also includes a traditional Albanian lunch, where you can enjoy authentic flavours and the warm hospitality that Korçë is known for.

Thursday 1 October to Sunday 4 October - Free Time in Leskovik

Enjoy some relaxed, free time in the small town of Leskovik, nestled in the scenic mountains and a 20-minute drive from the campsite. This is your opportunity to explore at your own pace and soak in the local atmosphere. Wander through the town’s quiet streets, visit traditional markets, and admire the Ottoman-era architecture that gives Leskovik its character. 

Nature lovers can take short walks or gentle hikes in the surrounding hills, enjoying the peaceful countryside and panoramic views. Or perhaps you might like to take a cooking lesson and learn how to make a traditional speciality - or simply relax and watch everyday life unfold on the farm.

Sunset Camping is a small, family-run campsite located right on the Adriatic coast. The site offers spacious pitches with electricity, in a tranquil seafront setting perfect for enjoying a slow pace of life. Guests can enjoy direct beachfront access, on-site amenities designed for comfortable caravan and motorhome stays, and a relaxed, community-friendly atmosphere. Whether you’re looking to unwind by the sea or just enjoy long sunset evenings, Sunset Camping provides a convenient and welcoming base for your seaside adventures.

Monday 05 October – Day Tour to Berat

Embark on a full-day excursion to the historic city of Berat, famously known as the “Town of a Thousand Windows.” Begin your journey with a visit to the Berat Castle, an impressive fortress that crowns the city and offers panoramic views over the Osum River and surrounding hills. Wander through its ancient streets and explore centuries-old churches and Ottoman-era architecture that tell the story of Berat’s rich heritage. 

Next, step inside the Onufri Museum, housed within the Church of the Nativity of Saint Mary, to admire exquisite religious icons and paintings by the renowned 16th-century Albanian artist Onufri. Whilst soaking in the culture and history of the day, you will also enjoy a traditional Albanian lunch at a local restaurant.

Tuesday 06 to Thursday 08 October - Free time in Durrës

Take some free time to enjoy Durrës, one of Albania’s oldest and liveliest coastal cities. Stroll along the long sandy beaches, watch the sunset over the Adriatic, or relax at a seaside café with views of the bustling promenade. History enthusiasts can explore the Roman amphitheatre, the Archaeological Museum, or wander through the charming old town with its mix of Venetian and Ottoman influences. Local markets and artisan shops offer a chance to pick up souvenirs or sample regional delicacies, while the vibrant café culture provides a perfect spot to soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere. Whether you choose to explore, relax by the sea, or simply watch the world go by, Durrës offers a welcoming and authentic Albanian coastal experience.

Please note that there is no local transport available directly from the campsite. To make your visit easier, we will provide a comfortable bus service to take you into Durrës and bring you back later in the afternoon.

Thursday 08 October - Farewell Meal
Before you bid farewell to your newfound friends, enjoy an organised evening meal in the campsite restaurant.

You may wish to take a little extra time on your journey to Albania, or perhaps begin with the Alpine Adventure Rally in Switzerland. You’re welcome to travel on the dates that suit you best, and your price includes a ferry crossing within the date bands shown below. Please note that alternative dates may incur a supplement.

Dover to Calais: travel any date from 20 August 2026, anytime during the day. 

Calais to Dover: travel any date before 31 October 2026, anytime during the day.
