Berkshire Centre Rally to Normandy

  • D DAY 3 BERKSHIRE

This rally has departed.

For 2024, the Berkshire Centre rally will be venturing to Normandy to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings. You will be staying at a welcoming, family-run site Camping Le Cormoran, in the heart of Cotentin Natural Park. This site is situated across the road from a lovely sandy beach and close to Cherbourg and Caen ports.

A perfect base for exploring Normandy, the winding country roads in the area are ideal for exploring by bike. Located in the heart of the landing beaches you will find the sandy Omaha Beach nearby and just slightly further down the coast the magnificent Arromanches with its imaginative museum commemorating the D-Day landings.

Only a short drive away is the charming medieval town of Bayeux, famous for its Tapestry but also an interesting destination for its architectural sites as well as plenty of shops, bars and restaurants.

Please note, Camping Le Cormoran will not officially open until the 5 April 2024. The campsite has agreed to open early to accommodate the rally starting on 1 April 2024. Please note that most of the facilities will be closed, such as, the bar, mini-market and swimming pool, which will open on 5 April 2024.

Itinerary

01 Apr - 13 Apr: Camping le Cormoran (12 nights)
Le Cormoran

This welcoming, environmentally friendly, family-run site, close to Cherbourg and Caen, is situated just across the road from a long sandy beach. It is also close to Utah beach and is ideally located for those wishing to visit the many museums, landing beaches and remembrance gardens of WW2. On flat, quite open ground, the site has 102 good sized pitches on level grass, most with 6 amp electricity (Europlug).

This modern, clean and fresh looking campsite caters for both families and couples and would be ideal for a holiday in this interesting area of France. The country roads provide opportunities for exploring on foot or by bike. There are many small towns in the area and in early June, you may find historical groups re-enacting battles and the events of 1944-1945
